Director of Public Relations | Media Training + Crisis Communications
Anna Carrera brings more than 15 years of experience in local + national media and strategic communications to the PMG team. She started her career as a reporter and anchor for local news markets in Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. She also worked for the Indiana University School of Medicine, supporting internal and external communication efforts for the largest medical school in the country. During her time there, she led communications for the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, a collaboration among Indiana’s premier research universities – Indiana University, Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame. Anna earned her Master of Arts in Public Relations from IU-Indianapolis.
She is proud to incorporate her passion for storytelling and creativity into the PMG team, leading strategic public relations efforts while also working to bring those stories to life. In her role at Pence Media Group, Anna partners with both nonprofit and for-profit organizations to develop thoughtful strategies that elevate their missions and strengthen their connection with the audiences they serve. Her background in journalism gives her a unique perspective on how newsrooms operate, allowing her to ask the right questions and then craft stories that resonate with reporters while positioning clients as credible and compelling voices in their industries.
Anna also provides media training and interview preparation, helping spokespeople feel confident and authentic when sharing their stories publicly. With her TV news background, she loves the opportunity work on PMG production shoots, ensuring messages are delivered clearly and effectively. In high-pressure situations, she helps guide clients through crisis communications with a calm, steady approach that focuses on clarity, transparency and protecting trust. One of the most rewarding parts of her role has been being part of the PMG team’s continued growth.
When she’s not working, you’ll find Anna running, reading, baking or spending time with her husband, Derick, and their two children, Chase and Vitalia.
