Making an Impact in 2022

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill was right when he said the famous words above. The importance of giving back to society truly can’t be understated. For businesses, this statement takes on a whole new meaning. Dave Cantin, Forbes Councils Member, explained it best when he wrote:

“Businesses are a part of the communities where they reside. They are sponsors of little league teams, supporters of local organizations, and contributors to national and even international causes. Such participation can impact anything from cutting-edge research to community projects or even neighborhood initiatives. All these actions, big and small, move the needle in a positive direction. It’s never just a simple donation.” Dave Cantin, Forbes Councils Member

Pence Media Group was built on this model – one that reflects a firm foundation of service. From the beginning, we wanted to create a real, working strategy for every client we serve – giving back is a big part of that. Our team is always looking for ways to give back as we support and engage with the community, build relationships + ultimately make a difference.

Impact storytelling can be incredibly effective as organizations seek to raise awareness and/or funds for a particular cause.

“Impact stories put a face or name on your organization, bringing its mission to life and providing a glimpse into the lives of individuals or communities. These stories connect with our emotions and can inspire people to act — to bring about change.”- Brittney Manchester, Forbes Councils Member

Storytelling is what we do at Pence Media Group; we love working with non-profits to use our skill sets to tell their stories.

In 2022, our team donated our time and talents to more than ten different organizations, all of which exist to make a difference in the community. In July, we published a blog that outlined our charitable efforts for Women for Riley, the Tyler Trent Foundation, Gleaners, and Make-A-Wish. The success stories of PMG’s partnerships with these organizations were displayed in our PMG Gives Back blog feature. The second half of 2022 brought even more opportunities for PMG to give back to the community. This edition of PMG Gives Back pays homage to how our team donated our time + talents toward the end of the year.

Gleaners Food Bank

In September, PMG was honored to donate the Mission Moment video for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Serving 21 counties across central and southern Indiana and operating the state’s largest food pantry, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has led the fight against hunger in Indiana since 1980.

With the help of Kirgis Creative Co., PMG produced the Mission Moment video that showcased Gleaners’ mission and the fantastic work the volunteers at Gleaners do for their community. This video made its public debut at Gleaners’ Wine, Women & Shoes charity event.

Since its inaugural event in 2014, Wine Women & Shoes has raised funds to provide more than 7.8 million meals for Hoosier children who may face food insecurity. This “party with a purpose” benefits Gleaners’ youth-serving programs, including school pantries, Summer Meals for Kids, Nutrition Club activities, and family meal boxes. PMG’s own Nicole Pence Becker also spoke during the special Wine Women & Shoes event to introduce the video PMG was proud to donate.

Purposeful Living Inc.

Purposeful Living is a non-profit organization that serves the modern woman. When the Purposeful Living team approached PMG’s own Nicole Pence Becker to see if she would serve as the emcee for the sixth-annual Breakfast with a Purpose, the whole PMG team was honored.

Breakfast with a Purpose is an uplifting, free event designed to raise awareness and funds for Purposeful Living Inc. The organization’s mission is to serve women who feel pressure to have it all together, but behind closed doors, are hurting, searching, or lonely.

Nicole was joined on stage by Keynote Speaker Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Title Sponsor Anna Campbell from the National Christian Foundation, Chief Servant Officer Nadine McGowan from Purposeful Living + Purposeful Living woman Thomasina Colbert.

Fletcher Place Community Center

Fletcher Place Community Center (FPCC) is a non-profit that compassionately provides programs to ease the burden of low- to moderate-income individuals in Indianapolis who struggle with life’s basic needs, and PMG was honored to help this incredible organization celebrate + commemorate 150 years at the Indiana State Museum in 2022.

PMG assisted Fletcher Place Community Center with event strategy + planning, fundraising strategy + execution, marketing asset creation with a PMG Production Shoot, event planning, PR enablement, and on-site media support. Lead Communications Strategist Andrea Kleymeyer led this project. PMG Founder Nicole Pence Becker also served as emcee for this special event, which raised $225,000 to support preK scholarships and feed the hungry programs. “Giving is not just about giving a donation. It is about making a difference.” – Kathy Calvin, Former President + CEO of the United Nations Foundation

Our Lady Mount Carmel

PMG was thrilled to be one of the sponsors for Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s (OLMC) Sapphire & Gold Gala in November. As one of the sponsors, our team donated a PMG-produced brand video for the OLMC School + Catholic Church which debuted at the gala. The video was produced alongside Mike Panasuk from Guerin Catholic High School.

Donations raised from the gala went toward updating the Merciful H.E.L.P. Center, which operates the largest county food pantry in Hamilton County.  PMG’s own Nicole Pence Becker acted as emcee + auctioneer for the event.

Grit & Grace Nation

Most recently, PMG was called to donate our services to Grit & Grace Nation as the organization works toward promoting its Celebrity Gala and Fundraiser on January 27 at the Lucas Oil Estate.

Grit & Grace was formed to cultivate young ladies who lead with courage. No matter where you are from, which school you attend, whatever country’s flag you fly, Grit & Grace Girls have the courage to live out their convictions with excellence while honoring faith, family + freedom. Grit & Grace was founded by former Fox59 anchor Fanchon Stinger, who launched Grit & Grace Nation in 2020 to mentor middle and high school girls. The national leadership development program connects young ladies with female mentors who are leaders in their industries. The foundation also awards a $10,000 scholarship to two (one middle school and one high school) young ladies who best demonstrate the ability to lead with courage, grit, and grace each year.

PMG has helped Grit & Grace Nation with public relations management + enablement and event strategy + promotion. PMG’s own Nicole Pence Becker is set to speak at the gala later this month.
